When Parents Hurt:

A Conversation on Family Estrangement

A Video Interview With Dr. Joshua Coleman

If your relationship with an adult child is painful, strained, or broken — I recorded this conversation for you.

Dr. Joshua Coleman is one of the leading experts on parent-adult child estrangement and author of When Parents Hurt. He has been featured on Oprah’s podcast, the Mel Robbins podcast, the Today Show, The Atlantic, and the New York Times

A personal note before you watch.

This interview was recorded in 2019 as part of my Sassy, Sexy & 60 Online Retreat — one of the first things I created when I launched my business that year. The video quality is vintage Zoom, and I look quite different than I do today. But Dr. Coleman’s wisdom is timeless, and I think you’ll find it just as valuable now as it was then.

I know this terrain personally. My daughter and I went through a period of estrangement — and I carried more shame around it than I ever admitted publicly. This conversation helped me.
